Kardashian Season 7 Review

The Kardashian family is full of drama, and Season 7 of Keeping Up With The Kardashians absolutely delivered that. From Momager Kris Jenner's relentless need for attention (seeking out the ex-boyfriend who caused her divorce) and Kourtney's characteristic judgement, to Bruce Jenner's secret temper, and Rob's bottled emotions, nearly every episode felt riddled with tension.

What I love most about this show, and what I'm sure keeps millions of viewers coming back each week - and every three months - is that despite all the money, fame, glitz, and glamour, the Kardashians are still a very real family. They're a big clan full of big personalities. And even though they fight, and shut one another out at times, they always make the effort to work things out, to communicate, and to listen to one another.

Still, this season was heavy. Group therapy was a good look because it forced them all to sit down and deal with the tension. And closing the season with baby Penelope's birth definitely helped pull it all together and remind viewers that family does matter.

5 Best Season 7 Moments

1. LORD DISSICK IN ENGLAND - Scott is my favorite Kardashian. (Then Khloe, then Rob, then Bruce, then Kylie, then Kourtney.) He was marvelously ridiculous on his trip to England with Kim and Rob. The shopping, the title, his almost boyish need to be important. Scott's come a long way, and Kourtney and Kris never really let him forget when he was terrible. Still, it's always a pleasure when he goofs the hell off.

2. EVERY SCENE WITH MASON.

3. Baby Penelope's Birth - on the season finale Kourtney pulled her signature pull-the-baby-out-of-my-crotch move. #KlassikKourt. I'm sure she'll pull out all five more she intends to have within the next decade.

4. Kris' Fat Lip - Karma. Before the family vacation to DR, Kris had the nerve to be in touch with her ex-boyfriend, tell her kids about wanting to meet up with him, and yet keep this vital information from her husband, Bruce. So good for her when she woke up with an allergic reaction and Donald Duck's top lip.

5. Kourtney Bitching Out Kris - While Kourtney's usually a little too judgmental for even my tastes, I definitely appreciated her guilt-tripping her mom about the memoir. I loved that she was all seven shades of extra bitchy due to pregnancy hormones so she really wasn't holding back. Kris may literally be a superstar "Momager" but she sometimes gets too carried away with her self-absorption. I understand the business acumen of writing a memoir and cashing in on public interest in the Mom behind the Divas, but she could've left out the details of her affair. And she definitely didn't need to go after Todd, and hug him and exchange emails. She's almost 60, with a marvelous family, an enormous fortune, and pretty much everything a modern woman could wish for. Why risk throwing it all away just for some attention, like a 15 year old?

My least favorite moment this season was Rob crying.

From Season 6, but I love it.
I think Kim is just as self-involved as Kris Jenner, and I think it's a direct result of Kris' favoritism.

Regardless of their mutual understanding of how the other one thinks, Kris' duty is as a mother to all her children. It's unfair for her to commit and focus as much energy as she does to her daughter's endeavors while dismissing Rob's appeals for assistance. All he needs is encouragement, support, and a push in the right direction.

But that would require Kris actually paying attention to someone other than Kim, or her two youngest cash cows.

It's unfortunate for Rob to have lost his father, and it's absolutely Kris' responsibility to take the time to teach and nurture Rob in his endeavors, as opposed to casually brushing his aspirations aside.

As for Kim, she really should shut up and be a better sister to her brother.

I'm usually 100% in Kim K's corner for turning an embarrassing situation into a lucrative career as a public figure. Good for her. Whether she leaked that tape or not, her subsequent success says something about female empowerment through ownership of one's sexuality (and despite the chorus of detractors). However this neither excuses or entitles her to behave as though she's above any member of her family.

She's a product of her environment. She's superficial and she's from California. It's all to be very expected. But she knows what she likes, what she wants. She knows her strengths and she works her assets to her advantage. All very, very good for her.

She's still a major stuck up bitch.

If season 7 was meant to take attention off of her, after that failed fairytale, or to help rebuild her image as a woman with strong family values it did not succeed. But she's still pretty. And she's still marketable, and her public approval might not go up very far in the near future (I mean where can it really go?) but it certainly wont fall far enough down to cost her or her family any of their earning power.

I just hope in the remaining contracted seasons that we get to see more of Rob, more of Khloe, more of Kourtney [being less of a bitch to] Scott. There are other members in the family, and even though Kim's sex tape got them onto cable, I really think it's time for her to be seen and not heard.

I want to tune in next year for Khloe and Kim take Miami but how interested am I in Kim's nasally giggle...?  I'm positive Kim has NOTHING to share with me that I can't find out on twitter. And since we know Khloe & Lamar aren't doing anymore spin-offs, what's the point?

I wonder if this season was my favorite because it'll probably be my last?
